Apple Pie

A slice of warm and delicious apple pie should be enjoyed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can get the ice-cream from the store and make your own apple pie. Here is the recipe for the one I made.

Ingredients
For the pie crust
All purpose flour - 1 and 1/2 cups
Egg - 1
Salt - 3/4 tsp
Butter - 3/4 stick
Cold Water - as needed

For the filling
Apples - 4 or 5 apples
Sugar - 3/4 cup
Cinnamon powder - 1 tsp
All Purpose Flour - 2 or 3 tbsp
Lemon juice - 1 tsp

Preparation
Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Cut the butter into the flour and mix till there are no more lumps. Beat an egg and mix it with the flour. Add cold water as needed to knead the flour into a dough. Cut the dough into half and shape each one into a ball. Take a rolling pin and flatten the dough into a circular disc slightly larger than the pie pan. Carefully place the flattened dough into the pan and press it to form the bowl shape. Flatten the second dough ball just like the first one and keep it aside.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Peel, core and slice the apples into a bowl. Add the sugar, cinnamon powder and lemon juice to the apples. Add the all-purpose flour and mix it well ensuring all the slices are well coated.

Fill the dough covered pan with the apple mix. Cover the dough pan with the second crust and seal the ends. Cut small slits in the upper crust for the steam to escape while it is being baked.  Brush a little bit of milk on the top crust and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for approximately 40 minutes or so till the pie is well cooked and the apples are tender.

Enjoy a warm slice topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
