Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

Onion - 1 small onion
Tomato - 2 small tomatoes
Chana dal - handful of chana dal
Red Chilli - 2 red chillis
Turmeric powder - pinch of turmeric powder

Preparing the Chutney
Cut the onions and tomatoes into small pieces. Take a small saucepan and heat some oil (about 2 - 3 tsp). Fry the chana dal in the oil till it is brown in color. Do not over fry. Add the chopped onions and tomatoes to it. Add salt to taste. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and the 2 dried red chillis. Saute the mix till the tomatoes mash - about 5 minutes or so. Switch off the heat and let it cool a bit.

Coarse grind the mix in a blender.

Garnishing
Take a small pan and heat some oil / ghee in it. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves to it. Pour the mix over the chutney.

Serve and enjoy
